Small and Community Wind Defined

Small Wind (or distributed wind) refers to the type of wind technology used to create clean, emissions-free power for individual homes, farms, and small businesses. Small wind turbines come in a variety of sizes, able to power part or all of a residential home or small business.

Community Wind refers to the ownership of wind turbines by one or more members of a local community - farmers, schools, colleges, tribal governments, municipal utilities, local businesses, and rural electric cooperatives.
